Headquartered in Chicago, Illinois, Government Finance, LLC ("GovFin") is a financial institution
that provides account receivables financing to small to mid-sized government contractors.
Our familiarity with various government agency processes and almost two decades of working with contracting
officers enables us to fund a wide range of government contractors.
Michael Sear, Principal

Prior to co-founding GovFin, Michael Sear was a co-founder and Executive Vice President of Transcap Trade Finance since 1991. Until Transcap Trade Finance was acquired by a major financial institution in 2008, it was the premier provider of purchase order and trade finance. Prior to founding Transcap, he managed various investment partnerships that have provided capital and management expertise to emerging cash-constrained companies.
In 1990, Mr. Sear was the Chief Financial Officer of a company specializing in the acquisition and development of rural cellular telephone systems. Prior to that role, he was a Vice President in charge of acquisition and redevelopment for a Midwest real estate firm for five years. Mr Sear spent the first six years of his career with Deloitte & Touche where he was a manager with the emerging business services group and was responsible for implementing the 'NEEDS ANALYSIS' program. In addition, he was responsible for administering two national dealer operations review programs and implemented the firm's national real estate and syndication marketing plan.
Mr. Sear received his Master in Business Administration from Harvard Graduate School of Business in 1979 and his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Washington University in 1976. He has served as a Certified Public Accountant (1977), a Certified Management Accountant (1978), and a Certified Financial Planner (1985). Mr. Sear has also been a member of the American Institute of CPAs, the Commercial Finance Association, Illinois CPA Society, and the Institute of CFPs.

Prior to co-founding GovFin, J.P. Young was a Director in the investment banking group at Macquarie where he specialized in providing transaction advisory services to companies considering strategies that involve acquisitions, joint ventures, divestitures and obtaining growth financing in the financial services industry. Mr. Young previously served as Vice President with Giuliani Capital Advisors LLC and before that with Friedman Billings Ramsey where he worked on a number of merger and acquisition transactions as well as public and private capital raises of both debt and equity for companies within the financial services industry. Mr. Young has a B.S. from Lehigh University (1995) and a M.S. degree from the University of Chicago (1999).
